Bicycle Salad

I have been fascinated wih this phenomena unique to New York streets for many
years. You see this wherever you go in neighborhoods in NYC burroughs, I call it Bicycle Salad — the remnants of what was once a compelete bicycle. How did it get to this? why would someone steal part of a bicycle, why not steal the whole thing? What good are the parts without the rest of it? It’s a strange site that New Yorkers are used to passing these in the streets and seemingly ignore.

I decided to begin to photograph these abandoned bicycles to see what will happen next, will they remain (as some have for years) or will they continue to decay? Most that I have seen remain as is unaffected and the city simply flows around them. Look back here for new addtions to my collection of images and send me some if you like.
