Bike Share begins to appear in cities worldwide, why not NYC?

This idea of bicvcle sharing is long overdue in here NYC though it has now sprouted up like weeds in many cities around the world. With the infrastructure somewhat in place (bikepaths most importantly) I would argue that we are more than halfway towards having a bike sharing program here in New York. I hope in some small way to be able to help affect that change by bringing awareness to this important transportation issue.
